Thanks for your support. My readers are mainly in Chinese, that's why I chose to write in Chinese. Maybe in the future I might consider creating an English version as well.
I chose Quantum computing because it was voted by my members. And it is a hot topic in the market as well, beside AI. That prompts me to have a deep dive in the topic, to see how the industry has evolved, any good investment opportunities etc.
If you haven’t noticed by now, sub stack is primarily in English. If you want to succeed, use the Google translator and translate you’re working into English. People in our culture are not particularly enthralled with your alphabet straighten up or you will lose. I want you to win.
(Last week’s special piece was more of a “bonus,” so I’m not counting it, haha!)
This week has been especially meaningful to me — it marked two “firsts” for our Substack community.
The first “first” was that I finally wrote about a topic I’ve long wanted to explore, even though it’s not exactly a trending one: the European defense industry.
Having the freedom to write about what I truly believe matters — rather than chasing clicks — is a privilege made possible by each of you, my paying members.
You give me the confidence to stay focused on substance over popularity.
During the writing process, though, I hit a major challenge: the topic involved a lot of physics, especially quantum mechanics.
I’ve watched plenty of videos on the subject before, but honestly, I only understood the surface level.
The hardest part was this — how do you explain the logic of quantum computing deeply enough to make sense, but without turning the piece into a physics paper? How do you keep it a genuine investment analysis?
I’m not sure how well the final version turned out — you’ll have to tell me what you think.
But trust me, the amount of research I did behind the scenes on quantum physics was far greater than what made it into the text.
Still, that process was immensely rewarding, and I’m grateful to all of you for pushing me to explore this complex field.
(By the way, only about 200 paying members joined the last poll — remember, the right to choose the next research topic is part of your membership benefit, so don’t waste it!)
Alright, enough of the preface.
Let’s dive into this week’s Thinking Notes and see what market dynamics are worth pondering.
At FOMO Research Institute, our content is structured into two main parts:
1. In-Depth Research – one or two pieces each week, dedicated to deep analysis of a core topic. These are exclusive to paying members, though we open one each month to free subscribers.
2. Thinking Notes – a weekly medium-length essay like the one you’re reading now. It’s a blend of market reflections and personal insights, and it will always remain free.
這個主題真的很難耶!想請問你,為什麼會選擇挑戰「量子計算」這麼複雜的題目呢?尤其是它涉及這麼多物理學的內容?

They have helped me
